What Brought Me To Ecuador?

Why are you here in Quito, Ecuador?

Me in Centro Historico, Quito, Ecuador.

I get some version of this question on a weekly basis since I have temporarily moved to Quito, Ecuador. The simple answer is "I'm here for a study abroad trip". But there is so much more to it.

I remember the day when God called me to serve overseas. I was watching the typical "sponsor a child" segment of a Christian concert when I looked up at the overhead screen, where a picture of a little boy from Africa was displayed. The man on the stage had just told us about how that little boy walked miles every day to get water for his family. As I was looking at this little boy, God just said to me "You are going to do that".

I am still not sure what that will look like. I'm sure that it will take many forms throughout my life. Right now, it looks like participating in an internship/study abroad program in Quito, Ecuador.

I signed up to come to Ecuador because I am always down for an adventure. But now I love this country, and I can't imagine what it will be like when I have to go home to the States.
